Air Source Heat PumpsAs the name implies, air source heat pumps extract heat energy from the air without the need for a complicated collection system of undergroun piping. Other than that an air source heat pump generally works using the same principles as a ground source heat pump system. The air inlet for an air source heat pump can be located outside a property or from an unused internal location such as a roof space. Air source heat pumps tend to operate more efficiently at warmer air temperartures. The main advantage of an air source heat pump over say a ground source heat pump is that there is no need for an expensive loop system to be excavated and installed. The disadvantages are that air temperature can vary widely throughout the year and indeed throughout any 24 hour period making the system less reliable and consistent in its power output. | ||
